Biography

Dr. Steven Lacey is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Environmental Health Science at the Indiana University Fairbanks School of Public Health in Indianapolis. Dr. Lacey earned a BS in Zoology from Texas Tech University, an MS in Industrial Hygiene from Texas A&M University, and a PhD in the same from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and was a postdoctoral fellow at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Prior to Indianapolis, he was the Director of the Industrial Hygiene and Hazardous Substances Academic Training programs at the NIOSH Illinois ERC, as well as the Occupational Safety program, which he established. Published work includes research in injury prevention and in exposure assessment to inform occupational and environmental hazard control, and occupational epidemiology – his current research focuses on medical laser health and safety. A Certified Industrial Hygienist and Certified Safety Professional, Dr. Lacey currently serves as President of the American Industrial Hygiene Association.
