Dr. Lopez received his PhD in Occupational Health and Safety from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and is a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH). He was a postdoctoral fellow at Indiana University Fairbanks School of Public Health before joining the faculty.

As an Industrial Hygienist, Dr. Lopez studies environmental and occupational exposure assessment and control. His current research interest is related to indoor air quality and the corresponding human health response.

Research Interests

Dr. Lopez’s research interests are in occupational exposure assessment, with recent work on the characterization of medical laser generated air contaminants during simulated surgical procedures and on human exposure response to laser generated air contaminant exposures. He has significant training and experience in measurement methods for medical lasers and other directed energy technologies.
