Summer Miller has nearly a decade of public health experience that includes a focus in both infectious and chronic diseases. She has extensive experience in developing and implementing programs, creating policies and procedures, staff training and development, and grant writing.
She began her career as a disease intervention specialist where she investigated cases of chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, and HIV and was instrumental in implementing the STD screening clinic at the Tippecanoe County Health Department. Her experience in STD prevention spans five years and includes working at the local, state, and national levels. As part of her master’s program, she also completed an internship focused on enteric disease investigations with the state health department.
Prior to joining the FSPH, she was an Epidemiologist / Senior Program Coordinator with the West Virginia University Cancer Institute where she served as part of the senior leadership team for Cancer Prevention and Control, principal investigator for the Mountains of Hope Cancer Coalition, and program manager for the West Virginia Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Program.
