Born and raised in Colombia, Dr. Max Jacobo Moreno-Madriñán is an associate professor in the Department of Environmental Health Science within the Fairbanks School of Public Health at IUPUI. In his home country of Colombia, Dr Moreno received his bachelor’s degree in zootechnics from Universidad Nacional de Colombia and his master’s degree in environmental management for sustainable development from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. Dr. Moreno earned his PhD in public health with a concentration in environmental health from the University of South Florida School of Public Health at Tampa, Florida, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center at Huntsville, Alabama.
Dr. Moreno’s research applies geographical information systems and remote sensing technology to solve water-related public health problems. He is working to understand the relationship between surface water quality and land use, as well as the influencing mechanisms of cultural and physical environmental determinants of water-related vector-transmitted diseases.
