Staff Awards

Quarterly Staff Awards

The Fairbanks School of Public Health recognizes full-time staff members whose performance demonstrates exemplary service and support of the school's mission and strategic plan. Each quarter, one Staff Award recipient will be recognized with a $500 monetary award. If the recipient agrees, the accomplishments for which the staff member is being acknowledged will be highlighted in the internal FSPH newsletter and in each break room at FSPH.

All recipients for the calendar year will be acknowledged at the end-of-year holiday celebration. The award purpose, success and procedure will be reviewed annually.

Nominees must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Employed as a full-time staff member with FSPH for at least six months and be in good standing with their department;
  • Has not previously received a quarterly staff award in the past 12 months;
  • Demonstrated a record of positive contributions to the school throughout the current fiscal year.

Nominees will be evaluated by the Academic Leadership Team (ALT) on the following criteria:

  • Strong evidence of activities supporting service to the IU Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health
  • Strong evidence of activities that support the FSPH strategic plan
  • Strong evidence of the staff member's excellence in their collaboration, innovation, or leadership at FSPH, the university or wider community

Nomination Guidelines

  1. Any FSPH faculty or staff member may nominate indivduals for this award; but self-nominations are not permissable.
  2. Individual nominations are strongly encouraged, however, under exceptional circumstances, team nominations can be submitted. If a team is selected, the monetary award will be split equally among team members. It is up to the nominator to clearly indicate if the nomination is for an individual or team accomplishment.

  3. All narratives will be evaluated by the Director of Finance and Administration to ascertain good standing with nominees' department and the school; this evaluation will be presented to the ALT for a decision on the quarterly recipient.

  4. Award recipients will be notified of the recognition by Dean Halverson. If for whatever reason the recipient chooses to refuse the award, they have a right to do so and a new recipient will be selected by the ALT.

  5. Submissions for each quarter must be submitted by the last day of the quarter, and the recipient will be selected 30 days after the quarter ends.

Nominations for the next round are due by Thursday September 30, 2021.
