Not only are these outcomes preventable, but their prevention would improve the vitality of Indiana’s economy.

For four consecutive years, Indiana has ranked a dismal 41 out of 50 states in overall health. While we can be proud of the progress we’ve made in high school graduation rates, immunization rates, and the low incidence of salmonella, our infants die younger, too many of our children live in poverty, and our citizens smoke more, weigh more, and experience more cardiovascular disease. We have a high rate of violent crimes and addiction continues to plague our families and communities.

Today’s challenges require unique approaches to complex issues. The 2016 Indiana Public Health Conference will bring together Indiana’s most committed and passionate public health professionals and academicians to focus on the drivers of our health ranking and the solutions to our most pressing issues.

Join Us A Day Early For The Pre-Conference Academy:
Proposal Writing and Grant Management

All seats for our Pre-Conference Academy have been reserved. If you would like to be added to the Wait List, please e-mail JoBeth McCarthy.

Things are changing rapidly in grant funding, and you need to be able to respond quickly and effectively. To receive a grant, you must not only develop the project fully and make the case to match with the current funding priorities of the funder, but also package the idea successfully and succinctly, often to fit in an online format. Once awarded, the real work begins with implementing the project, stewarding the grant organization appropriately, and measuring and reporting the impact back to the funder, organization, and community in meaningful ways. Through the Academy you will learn how to match the funding opportunity to the appropriate corporate or foundation funding sources, draft high quality applications in written or digital formats, and implement, measure, evaluate, and report the impact of grant funds.

You’ll learn how to manage the complete grant lifecycle, including:

  • Researching funding priorities of corporations and foundations to match with project/program goals
  • Creating successful written and digital proposal packages
  • Tracking progress toward project goals
  • Stewarding the grant organization in meaningful ways
  • Reporting the results of the project internally, externally, and to the funder
