The Fairbanks School of Public Health is hosting a coat and toiletry drive from Monday, November 5 to Friday, November 16 to support the Indianapolis Public School’s Newcomer Program. This program is designed to help refugee and immigrant students, who know little to no English, thrive in the classroom. The Newcomer Program is also focused on supporting the families who are adapting to their new environment.
The Newcomer Program is currently partnering with faculty and staff from the Fairbanks School of Public Health to support research initiatives. This winter, we would like to show our support by providing new families in the program who may be experiencing hardships with gently used adult and children winter coats.
Boxes will be available in the FSPH’s 5th and 6th floor break rooms/kitchen areas for donations of new and/or gently used:
We are also accepting the following hygiene products:
- Bar Soap
- Toothpaste/toothbrush, dental floss
- Aftershave lotion
- Pocket-sized Kleenex
- Disposable wipes
- Safety razors
- Feminine hygiene products
