A coalition of pro-environment groups (Sierra Club, other environmental NGOs, IUPUI students/faculty, faith based groups have organized on the IUPUI campus and have the IUSM Student Council on board in supporting a resolution to phase out the major polluter in Indianapolis—Harding Street Coal-Fired Power Plant. The Coalition has nearly 1500 signed petitions from students urging Chancellor Bantz to call on IPL to retire the Harding Street plant by 2020.
There will be a press conference on Wednesday, the 12th at 11am in the Campus Center, Room 409 to publicize the coalition of professors and student groups who have signed on in support of the campaign, as well as present nearly 1,500 signed petitions from IUPUI students in support of the campaign.
