Dr. Tamara Leech Chosen to Receive the 2014 Chancellor's Diversity Scholar Award

Dr. Tamara Leech has been chosen to receive the 2014 Chancellor’s Diversity Scholar Award. The award will be officially presented at the Chancellor’s Academic Honors Convocation in April.  This award “honors a faculty member who creates, maintains, and demonstrates to the campus and larger community the ability to infuse a common thread of diversity in his/her scholarship and service.”  This is the fourth year the award will have been awarded and a first for the Fairbanks School of Public Health. The portfolio of recommendation letters gathered for Tamara’s nomination include powerful praise and demonstrate an impressive breadth of involvement and engagement with student, community and academic partners. It is wonderful that the University has recognized her dedication with this award.  As Silvia Bigatti stated in her nomination letter,  this award is “reward for a faculty who has dedicated all aspects of her professional life to social justice, equity, inclusion, and diversity.“   We are very proud to have Tamara as a member of our Department and School.  Please take a moment to congratulate her.
