RFA for Global Health Research Pilot Projects
The Indiana CTSI with the IU Center for Global Health is soliciting proposals from applicants developing or currently involved in collaborative global health research projects. The purpose of this RFA is to foster and encourage the development of new collaborative interdisciplinary research that seeks to identify innovations to address key global health challenges and improve health outcomes in resource limited settings. IU Center for Global Health Hosting Lunch Seminar Series on Global Health Research and Bioethics
The IU Center for Global Health is hosting its second lunch seminar series on Global Health Research and Bioethics on Tuesday, December 13 in the Rotary building at 702 Circle Dr. R0121 at 12pm. Dr. Megan McHenry will present, “Ethics of International Research with HIV-infected Children.” Anyone interested in global health is encouraged to attend. Lunch will be provided.

Nominations are Being Accepted for the IUPUI Top 100 Student Recognition Awards
Nominations are currently being accepted for the IUPUI Top 100 Student Recognition Awards. Nominations and Letters of Recommendation are due by January 18, 2017.
Nominators only need the students network ID (first part of their IU email address) to submit a nomination, students fill out all of the required paperwork. Students may also self-nominate.
Eligible students are juniors and seniors seeking their first bachelor’s degree with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2 who have completed a minimum 5 semesters (on any university campus) and 56 credit hours applicable to her/his degree program; 25 or more of those hours must have been completed at the Indianapolis campus as of the Fall 16 semester.

Winter Clothes for Indy's Homeless Community
Amanda Briggs, your staff council representative, is collecting winter items now until Tuesday, December 13. Suggested items for men and women include hats, gloves, scarves, heavy socks, long underwear, blankets, hand warmers, drawstring bags, backpacks, hygiene items, bottled water and candles. If you have anything you would like to donate, please drop them off with Amanda Briggs at RG 6063.

JagStart Pitch Competition February 3, 2017
This year’s JagStart Pitch Competition will be accepting entries through February 3, 2017. JagStart is an annual elevator pitch competition that pits contestants against the clock to pitch their original ideas to a panel of judges. The Indiana Society for Public Health Education Advocacy Committee would like to invite you to participate in the Indiana Public Health Education Advocacy Summit on Wednesday, February 15, 2017.
This event is an opportunity for public health professionals to collaborate, discuss the importance of advocacy in health legislation, and speak to legislators about the role of public health educators in eliminating health disparities and improving health outcomes. Plan to meet and speak with state representatives who have shared in public health efforts to improve and maintain the health of Indiana residents.

IU Simon Cancer Center Seeks Applicants for 2017 Summer Research Program
If you know of students interested in gaining hands-on experiences in cancer research, encourage them to apply to the IU Simon Cancer Center's 2017 Summer Research Program. Students are paid in the nine-week program (June 5-July 28). The Summer Research Program's primary goal is to increase the number of underrepresented populations engaged in basic, clinical, and prevention and control cancer research by providing positive and meaningful first-hand exposure to those fields.
