Our work cannot be done without full engagement with the community. We follow a Community-based Participatory Research (CBPR) framework in our projects.
CBPR brings community groups and academic partners together to work equitably on projects that the community determines are needed. The final aim is social change to increase health equity.
So far, we have developed relations with La Plaza, the Indiana Minority Health Coalition, the Indiana Latino Institute, and the Latino Health Organization. There are many other community organizations whose purpose is to improve the health of the community they serve. We will be connecting with these organizations as well as we pursue our goal of reducing health disparities in Indiana.
