Dr. Antionette Smith Epps has been named the Master of Health Administration program director and associate professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management.
Epps brings extensive experience as both a senior executive and educator. Since 2014, she has taught both undergraduate and graduate courses in health administration at Ferris State University in Michigan where she also served as undergraduate program coordinator.
Epps has held several leadership positions in top essential hospitals including serving as CEO of Martin Luther King Jr. Hospital in Los Angeles, CA and Chief Operating Officer of Cooper Green Hospital in Birmingham, AL. She received her MHSA degree from the University of Michigan and a doctorate from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Following a national search including faculty, staff, practitioners, and alumni, Epps was selected as program director. The MHA program, established in 1969 is one of the oldest graduate programs at IUPUI. In the program’s over 50 year history, more than 1,000 graduates have served in various health administration leadership roles in Indiana, the Midwest region, and beyond.
Dr. Epps's appointment is effective November 1, 2021, and she replaces Dr. Ann Johnston who is retiring after serving in the position since 2016.
