(need paragraph here introducing the new department and what it means)
The Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences has a rich and successful history of focusing on health disparities, community-engaged work, and social justice issues. Moreover, our MPH concentration in Social and Behavioral Sciences is notable for its excellence in preparing students for exciting public health careers.
The Department of Global Health has ably housed our environmental health courses and greatly expanded our school’s global footprint including by creating successful study abroad experiences and other global health programs, notably the DrPH program.
The new Department of Community and Global Health will build upon these and other successes and will retain a strong commitment to community engagement. The new department will have values rooted in diversity, cultural humility, health equity, and leadership all with a global orientation and a strong local presence. These shared values are highly aligned with the fields of “community health” and “global health” nationally and internationally.
